Steering Committee
Role: Long-term planning and direction of the Makerspace Responsibilities:
- Legal affairs, Finance, and Contracts
- Company entity
- Compliant operation (H&S, insurance, fire safety, etc)
- Business Accounts, Tax, and Returns
- Directors' Duties
- Rental agreement and landlord
- Utilities (water, elec, gas, internet)
- Grant applications
- External Relations
- Ipswich Borough, Grant bodies
- Other clubs and societies
- Corporate Members
- Publicity and Public Relations
- R-Pi Foundation and CoderDojo
- Internal Affairs
- Discipline
- Collection of membership fees, shop receipts, etc
- Determining issues raised by Operating Committee
Operating Committee
Role: Day-to-day operation of the Makerspace Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with policies established by Steering Committee
- Purchasing of consumables and tools within budget set by Steering Committee
- Maintaining a Membership Database, including on-boarding of members
- Maintaining a Database of Keyholders, including issuing of keys
- Maintaining an Asset Management/Inventory Database
- Maintaining an “Owners” Database for all equipment
- Organising user education on equipment; certifying “drivers”
- Maintaining a “Drivers” database of those who have received “driver” education
- Maintaining a messaging/email system to ensure all new contacts get a timely response
- Maintenance of infrastructure, safety checks, etc
- Ensuring opening hours
- Operating the Minishop and Tuckshop
- Organizing a program of talks, demos, and workshops
- Maintaining a space booking system for internal and external events
- Managing Makerspace userids/passwords for public-facing services (website, FB group, Meetup, Twitter, etc) and posting event notices from authorised persons
- Projects that from time to time may be necessary
- Raising issues for Steering Committee response
